Chadwick Johnston is a contemporary realist painter and photographer. He has studied at the Art Student’s League in New York and at Studio Escalier and the Louvre in Paris. He has lived and worked in London, New York and Paris and has recently settled in Victoria, BC. He predominantly works in oil on canvas and combines classical academic drawing methods with modern, expressive brushwork. Influenced by Manet, Freud, Giacometti and Gale, he uses the human figure to explore the boundaries between integration and disintegration, order and chaos, presence and absence.
